Turtle is used in some projects to perform complex tasks, like autobuilding software from sources. Because most of its operations are silent and only visible by their side effects, it is not easy to see what it does. To make the process more transparent, turtle can be invoked with the verbose option to see what it does. You can also use turtle to generate browseable web pages representing the state of the processed objects.
