To practice, be sure you are in a quiet spot, use your finger and literally hop it from word to word.
When you reach a good speed, and you are still remembering what you read, go back and rerun Hopify with a whee bit larger chunk factor, print out the next page, then practice some more. See Advanced options.
When you can read some 4-5 words on average per line, try to add the vchunk factor, and scale back the chunk factor. This will make small rectangles of words (start with about 2x2 words). It will be quite a challange at first, as you are now reading the words out of sequence.
Slowly increase the size of your rectangles, up however much you can read. See Advanced options.
To increase recall, and to learn more vocabulary, you may want to use Majorteach. That's Free Software that teaches you some Mnemonic tools to use that allow you to memorize what you read (or the sequence of a deck of cards or whatever you care for).
