GNOME Commander goes git! Jul 17 2008
GNOME Commander source tree is now mirrored in git repository. Using the
web interface
you can browse directory trees at arbitrary revisions, view contents of files (blobs), see log of a given branch,
examine commits or download a snapshot of a given revision of a project.

The GNOME Commander team proudly announces the next stable release of
GNOME Commander: 1.2.5.
This release have a quite long list of bugs have that is fixed, and some new features worth mentioning:
- New support of various metadata in advanced file rename templates.
- Metadata tags in file properties dialog.
- Use of the GNOME authentication manager for user's security credentials
- Open terminal in the current directory
- Default GNOME theme icons for home, SMB and FTP locations
- User defined shortcuts to bookmarks
- Send files via email or instant messenger (using nautilus-sendto)
- Updated help docs
- New or updated translations: ar, bg, cs, de, dz, eo, es, eu, fr, oc, pl, pt_BR, ro, sl, sv
- New key bindings:
- CTRL+LEFT/RIGHT Copying the current working directory from the active filelist to the inactive one

Latest release news
The unstable 1.3 branch.
In the unstable branch the team behind GCMD are now experimenting with python plugins
that users can drop in the ~/.gnome-commander/plugins directory. The work on supporting
meta-data also continues. The plan is to add this functionality to the searchtool, custom columns and the internal viewer.

gives a hint on what we are working on, or like to work on, and maybe appreciate some community efforts on.
Users and developers are as usual welcome to contact us, ask questions and discuss the development

GNOME Commander is a free two pane file manager in the tradition of Norton and Midnight Commander,
it is built on the GTK-toolkit and GnomeVFS. GNOME Commander aims to fulfill the demands of more
advanced users who like to focus on file management, their work through special applications and
running smart commands. This program is not aimed at users wanting the weather forecast in a sidebar
in their file manager...

- GTK-2 GUI with standard mouse interactions.
