These instructions assume a standard installation of the operating system.
Insert the installation DVD in the drive.
Click "System", then "Administration", then "Add/Remove Software".
Search for, click, and install the following package gcc-c++.
If it asks for additional package to install, install these.
Give the password for root if it asks for it.
Updating the system takes a while to complete.
Do the same for the following packages: gtk2-devel, sqlite-devel, libxml2-devel, git, enchant-devel, gtkhtml3-devel, libcurl-devel, rcs.
After completion, close the window.
Open a terminal, click "Applications", then "System Tools" and then "Terminal".
